Many of you have met our technician Paul Maskrey and may know that he came on board to support our clients and business development team with help on product trials, demonstrations, application issues etc.
Through the period during and following the Covid pandemic, this side of his role was necessarily limited, and he moved into working more in our Laboratory & Quality team on colour matching and control.
With no travel restrictions now and rapid growth stretching the sales team, we are pleased to announce that Paul has now moved back into his client-facing support role, and is fully available to support any enquiries or concerns you may have!
On 9th January we held our group-wide 2023 Launch session, sharing our targets and growth strategy across the team under our theme for the year – Advance! Thanks to all involved for a great event!
You may not be aware that our Investeq Group includes another company, MG Solutions – this trades under the Markham Global brand and operates in the concrete waterproofing sector. (Some of you may have noticed that the LinkedIn profile of our Managing Director Carl Groombridge is focused on that side).
This structure gives us a superb breadth of knowledge and experience across the teams, helping us to achieve the challenging targets set and deliver excellent service and support.
This year we have a renewed focus on team wellbeing and peer support – one of the Markham Global team is a trained Mental Health first-aider and will be helping a lot on this!
The high-performance Cefla automatic spray line and infra-red oven we commissioned late last year is proving its worth – it has been exceptionally useful in evaluating new products for our Varlaq wood finishes range.
We’ve also carried out a number of successful client-specific trials, and look forward to continuing to grow the use of this great facility!
As part of our renewed focus on our team, we carried out an anonymous staff survey late in 2022 – there was a lot of excellent feedback and ideas that we’re planning to implement.
One that we did action immediately was to increase the holiday allowance across the whole team – everyone contributes to Kortec’s success and we’re happy to recognise that in this way!

Production Layout Improvements
As we headed into 2023, we implemented a full rework of our tinting facility. With massive increases in throughput volume in 2022, it was no longer the most efficient layout so we spent some time working out the best solution. To view the new setup, click here.
Brand New Varlaq Tinting Machine
Late in 2022 we setup the latest addition to our superb tinting facilities - a top-of-the-range Fast & Fluid HA680 with max canister sizes and dispense speed, for fast and accurate tinting. Along with that, we've also got the Datacolor Paint software and 20D spectrophotometer, which will give us high-accuracy matching capabilities across the Varlaq water-based range.
This is also a key focus for Kortec, expanding our comprehensive range of water-based wood finishes and looking to add water-based products to our metal coatings ranges
Joining the shift towards net zero, British Coatings Federation (BCF) has pledged to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. BCF already has some success and future plans in the paint production process and recycling areas. This is also a key focus for Kortec, expanding our comprehensive range of wood finishes and looking to extend it into our metal coatings ranges. We are also looking at various environmental/sustainability schemes and certifications.
