Holly’s role at Kortec is to support the senior leadership teams and marketing manager in administrative tasks. She is experienced in organising workload, time management and marketing on social media due to a background in conveyancing and real estate.
It’s been 8 years since we setup our Varlaq brand… at the start we mainly focused on a coating system for wood – that’s where the tagline “Good for Wood” came from. However, over the years this has developed to cover a wider set of applications such as composite, plastic and glass substrates.
To reflect this we’ve decided to update the branding with a new focus, bringing it up-to-date as a cutting-edge modern range that incorporates the latest technology. You’ll see the colours are updated from the orange and wood-effect, and the tagline has also been updated to define Varlaq’s new purpose - “Enhance & Protect”.
The new look will be phased in over the next few months, so those that are purchasing Varlaq products will start to see the new branding on some items soon, but the old look will still appear at times whilst the stocks are refreshed.
We can’t wait to see how the Varlaq range develops further, as it is a key part of our portfolio!
Some of our team have been retraining this month on the new web-based Jotun Steelmaster programme for calculating required film thicknesses, product quantities etc on intumescent coating steel projects. This enables us to run these calculations in-house, speeding up the quoting and estimation process significantly for these jobs.
Our ability to do this may change later this year with new government legislation but we will update again as required.

Our technician Paul has been hard at work, using all his experience to test a range of new products to see if they're worthy of inclusion in the expansion process the Varlaq brand is going through.

At Kortec we can certainly say that we’re experiencing several of the trends mentioned, such as the continued pressures on the supply of some raw materials and high demand across most of the furniture industry.
In these rapidly changing times, we find it increasingly important to stay aware of market tendencies and use Kortec’s adaptability to ensure we continue to deliver the optimum products and services.

That I have a supportive team surrounding me. If I don’t know the answer to something someone else will. I also like that no day is the same as with my job role I am presented with a variety of different task’s.
That everyone within the company works towards achieving the company’s values. When someone demonstrates one of the values, we can thank them on this which everyone else in the company can see. Along with this I appreciate that the company provides great training opportunities to help advance your skills.
In my spare time I often spend time with family and friends as well as going on walks with my husky Freya.
