PEAK Strategic Projects & Team Product Training

September has been a busy and educational month, including an introduction to our new Finance Controller, team product training sessions, and some role changes!

Inside Kortec

Welcome To Our New Finance Controller, Jodie Gray!

Jodie joined our team on the 25th September and is responsible at Kortec for all things financial - budgeting, forecasting and developing strong ongoing relationships with our external partners, and supplying the leadership team with all required information on an accurate and timely basis

PEAK Strategic Projects

Back in July we updated you about our new long-term strategy structure – PEAK. As we’ve now completed a full quarter since then we wanted to share some of the key successes achieved through this!

  • Setup a regular People Review structure -  so we can make sure we’re looking after our team, continually challenging and developing them for a win-win result
  •  Started a Values Education programme – to ensure we really understand why company values are key and how to apply them in all situations, so every experience with Kortec is a great one!
  • Complete setup of a revised Client Onboarding process – to get everything right for our new clients from Day 1

Great progress and we’re confident we’ve now got a strong process to keep it going!

Team Product Training

As we grow, we want to ensure that we are staying ahead of the market, by maximising our team’s knowledge about processes involved within the industry and our products. To achieve that, we have setup a training programme for them to cover the following:

  • Preparation
  • Application & Finished Products
  • Testing
  • Handspray vs pump spray
  • Auto-line
  • Special Matches
  • Training on our ordering/ operation system’s

We’ve just run the first module, with great engagement and feedback – thanks to Paul for running an excellent session!

Team Role Changes

As Kortec grows there’s constantly new positions opening up, and we love it when we can fill these with internal promotions!

We’re pleased to announce two moves:

Luke Tompkins will be moving from Head of Operations to Chief Operating Officer – he will be taking on responsibility for most of the office team as well as the operations department, plus a much deeper involvement in the financial and strategic running of the business.

Richard Thomas will step up from Operations Supervisor to fill the Head of Operations role, taking on full responsibility for the department from Luke.

The handovers will be taking place through Q4 to be fully complete in time for 2024 – congratulations to Luke and Richard!

One Year Of Ben At Kortec!

Our apprentice Ben has now officially been with us for a year - it’s been great to watch you grow within your role and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you at Kortec!

Heroes Of The Month

Congratulations to all our Heroes for this month!

As mentioned in the last issue of our newsletter we run a team recognition platform called Motivosity to thank and reward our team. From this platform each month the top scorers for each of our four values (Respect, Innovation, Dynamism and Expertise) win a Hero prize including a gift card!

We would like to take the time to congratulate August’s winners (the Innovation prize was not awarded this time):

A Quick Recap

Looking back on some of our recent LinkedIn updates:

P3X - How do Kortec improve the Profitability of coating systems?

Typically this is achieved with a combination of three methods;

1. reducing the coating cost per unit (not necessarily the coating price per litre!)
2. minimising the labour cost per unit (possibly preparation or application, or both)
3. increasing handling/production speed, allowing greater throughput and therefore increased potential profit generation per day for the same fixed cost amount

That makes it sound very simple, and in principle it is - but it requires in-depth analysis, significant expertise and market-leading products to achieve. Good products can be applied in thinner or a lower of coats, can tolerate more efficient preparation methods and can be dried a lot faster than the norm - as long as you know the limits of what is possible and how to get the best results.

This is why we continually develop both our range of high-quality products and the skills/experience of our team, so we can produce genuine profitability results for you!
